Audi vs BMW: Interior Luxury

Like many luxury brands, Audi and BMW are well known for their immaculate interiors. Slide inside for an unparalleled experience of luxury. Beautiful Nappa and Dakota leathers are often standard or available, and real wood and/or metal accents make for a more compelling cabin design.

Keep in mind, though, that Audi offers leather standard on more vehicles. BMW often uses SensaTec, an attractive leatherette, on its base trim levels. While it looks sleek, it can't compare to real leather. At the same time, models such as the Audi A5 and Audi A6 make leather standard-and higher-grade leather is available.

Performance & All-Wheel Traction

Audi and BMW are known for their high-powered engines. The TFSI® engines under the hoods of all Audi cars, as well as their BMW TwinPower Turbo counterparts, are turbocharged to produce higher outputs of torque. This helps give you a power boost when you drive at slower speeds.

Both brands use intelligent all-wheel drive systems. Audi is known for the renowned quattro® all-wheel drive system, while BMW offers xDrive all-wheel drive. Both send power to the wheels that have better grip in any given situation, so you can maximize your traction on the road.

However, Audi tends to make its quattro® all-wheel-drive system standard on more models. By contrast, BMW tends to offer its AWD system as an available upgrade from rear-wheel drive.

Seamless Connectivity Technology

Quality and attention to detail extends to the technology inside the cars. Many of these brands' models use fully digital instrument panels that integrate with the main infotainment screens. Features such as voice command, handwriting recognition, and touch capacity make the systems easy to use on the go.

However, Audi tends to offer more connectivity features standard. Its MMI® infotainment system often includes Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, even on base trim levels. By contrast, BMW only offers the Apple feature-if you use an Android device, you'll be out of luck.

BMW also relies on a subscription model for Apple CarPlay®. You'll get the first year free, but you'll need to subscribe to continue using it after that point. Audi bypasses this model for more universal access.

Should I Shop Audi or BMW Cars?

Audi and BMW are storied brands, each with their own enthusiastic fans. No doubt, you'll turn heads for all the right reasons when you cruise the streets of Salt Lake City and Park City in a sedan or SUV from either of these brands.

However, Audi really rises above when it comes to key performance, technology, and style features. You can learn more about the brand and test drive your favorite models here at Audi Salt Lake City. Swing by and see what our dealer can do for you!
